Emerald rings are a beautiful and very popular piece of jewelry. With a deep lucid green colour that is said to be one of the easiest colours to look at on the human eye, it is hard to ignore emerald rings on any individual. But, if emerald rings are not taken good care of following certain guidelines, their looks can diminish becoming tarnished and they can lose their colour. Because of this fact jewelry experts make a big fuss about how to correctly clean emerald rings. The following are some key points that need to be followed when taking care of emeralds.

Polishing the emerald gemstone is very important in order for it to maintain its appearance. Experts advise that you should use a soft non-scratching cloth to polish the emerald for at least two or three minutes. They advise this as it helps to remove any oils, dirt or stains that may be on the surface of the stone. If these are left too long, they will permanently tarnish the emerald.

Furthermore, it is known practice that the best way to thoroughly clean emerald rings is to place them in a basin of slightly warmed water mixed with a detergent that is not too strong, for example Johnson baby washing liquid. This will gently remove all the dirt without causing any long term damage to the emerald. Afterwards the emerald should then be dried off with a soft cloth and then polished as above. This is regarded as the safest and most effective method of cleaning an emerald ring.

Another technique that is advisable to be carried out every now and and then but not on every occasions is the scrubbing of emerald rings. This is carried out by taking a soft toothbrush and scrubbing thoroughly in all areas whilst in the detergent solution. This will take off any stubborn dirt and grime the emerald rings may be harbouring. If you do not have a soft toothbrush to use however, you could also use a jewelry brush.

Instead of using cold water to rinse off the emerald jewelry after washing, take the time and effort to rinse them in lukewarm water instead, as this is said to help take off any remaining dirt better than if you use cold water. Once rinsed, use a soft towel or cloth to dry the emerald rings using a patting motion, be sure not to wipe or scour the ring as this could scratch and smudge the emerald. As soon as they are dry, they can be worn straight away.

It is also recommended that you should take your emerald rings to a professional jewelry cleaner around about once a year, in order to keep them in perfect upkeep, as these experts will notice and deal with any problems you may not. Furthermore, it is advisable that you avoid any commercial cleaners and ultrasonic cleaners on emerald rings, such is the fragility of this gemstone that it would cause long lasting harm to it due to the oils inside.

Within the jewelry world, there is a large amount of scams, fakes and misadvertised products, that can be very hard to spot even to the professionals eye. The first obstacle you need to negotiate will be determining if the emerald is a genuine natural gem, or if it is a lab created gem. Natural emeralds are a lot more valuable as they have not been tampered with and it is a piece of nature within itself. You can easily expect to pay thousands and thousands of dollars for high quality genuine emerald rings. On the other hand, lab created emeralds look identical to natural ones, but at the fraction of the price, typically on sale for less than $1000. So the clues are in the price as to the question of is the emerald natural or lab created, but if you are still not sure, ask the dealer that very question before deciding on your purchase.

There are also other tips to making sure you find the right genuine emerald ring for you…

Always ask the dealer if the emerald has been treated or not. Ideally you will want an untreated one, but these are very rare and hard to find, and hence will be more expensive. If it is a treated emerald, then you will know it will be harder to look after and extra precautions will need to be taken to keep it in mint condition.

Always check the colour of the emerald. Emeralds should have a pure deep green colour, if they have a blue or a yellow hue, the gem is poor quality and you should not pay as much for it opposed to a pure green emerald. Also check the clarity of the emerald, if it appears cloudy, then it has probably had extensive oil treatment, and isn’t a naturally pure emerald.

The cut of the emerald can also affect what price it fetches. You will want an emerald ring where the cut is proportional on all sides and looks symmetrical.

Check to find out the country of origin of the emerald. Do your homework on where the best quality emeralds come from, and pay a price for the emerald ring accordingly.

Gold emerald rings are a very popular piece of jewelry for obvious reasons. The deep vivid green glow of the emerald and the shiny warm golden colour of gold compliment each other perfectly on a ring in terms of appearance. Also, gold is one of the most valuable metals on the planet, alongside emeralds being a sought after gemstone, and depending on the quality and purity of the emerald, they can be just as valuable as diamonds.

Gold is can be mined from underground, where it is found encased in rock in large formations sometimes. It can also be found in sediment form, and the method to mine for this type of gold is called gold panning. Once the gold is collected, it can then be melted down and then shaped into gold bars, or into ingots or small chip-sized plates that will then be used by jewelry manufacturers to make jewelry such as gold emerald rings.

Emeralds can only be found underground, and it is mined in many countries, however the main provider of emeralds is Columbia. It is very rare that you will find an emerald that is pure and perfect in its form. Often emeralds must be treated with a synthetic or cedar oil to fill any fissures that are inside the emerald. This improves the appearance of the gem, but this is one of the reasons it is such a hard stone to care for.

Gold emerald rings can be a unique alternative to other forms of rings and jewelry. The green colour of the emerald can often compliment and fit into a person’s dress style for a particular occasion, and it is a very striking colour compared to the plain tones of a diamond for example. It is however recommended that gold emerald rings are only worn sparingly, perhaps on special occasions, as emeralds are not a hard wearing gemstone, prone to scratching and chipping very easily. But as long as the emerald is cared for well, this is a piece of jewelry that will last for years and years and keep its looks. Gold is very easy to care for and is extremely durable, and it requires very little maintenance.

Emeralds are a stunningly beautiful gemstone, with a lush deep green colour, and makes it perfect for mens emerald rings, as it is a unique ring and always grabs a persons attention. However, emeralds are a very fragile and delicate stone, and if you want your emerald rings to stay in good condition, there are a number of steps you can take that will help this to happen.

Don’t Wear Emerald Rings Regularly

As tempting as it undoubtedly is to wear such a stunning ring all the time and show it off, it is advisable not to wear them daily, as the emerald is a rather soft gemstone, and can become scuffed and scratched very easily, especially if you work in a rough and physical environment. When wearing your emerald rings avoid striking it or rubbing it against any surfaces.

Avoid Heat And Adverse Temperatures

A treatment that is used on emeralds after they have been mined is to fill the fissures and cracks with a synthetic or cedar oil treatment, to improve the emeralds appearance. Therefore it is a good idea to keep your rings away from high heat or adverse temperatures, as this may dry the gem out, causing the colour to look dull, and even cause cracks in the stone. If you spend alot of time in the kitchen for example, do not wear you emerald rings when cooking.

Maintain Your Mens Emerald Rings

Oil and heat treatments may need to be reapplied during the life of the emerald as it is not a permanent solution. This is something that shouldn’t be neglected, as it can increase the emeralds lifespan and keep the gemstone’s appearance pristine. However, when getting this treatment done, make sure you go to a trusted and experienced source.

Cleaning Emeralds

Because the emerald is such a delicate gemstone, it isn’t able to handle being cleaned with chemicals or solvents that are usually used to clean jewelery, this is due to the oil and heat treatment the emerald has. Cleaning should be accomplished by regularly brushing or wiping with a soft cloth, never soak them in water or in any chemicals as this can damage the oils inside. At most, rinse them in cool soapy water and dry them immediately, use a soft detergent like baby washing liquid.

Places To Store Mens Emerald Rings

Emerald rings shouldn’t ever be stored alongside other jewelry, as this could scratch and damage the gem. Store them indiviually in cotton wool or a specialist wrap. It is best to store your emeralds away when not in use opposed to leaving them out to avoid the gem drying out.

When you talk about antique rings of any kind, not just antique emerald rings, you immediately think of an item that is old and from way back in the past. People from older generations will have grown up and probably followed in the tradition of wearing jewelry that has been handed down over the years, but the generation of today often don’t see that as an attractive option. They want fashionable and brand spanking new, and an antique emerald ring is usually classed an antique ring when it is 50 years old or more.

However, antique rings are more unique and rare, and hold more value. Even though some of the designs on the rings are old, there are some beautifully crafted ones, where you know you won’t find a ring like it in todays shops. Also, with most older rings, the gemstone appears much clearer and brighter, looking much more vivid, and the rings that the stone is placed upon is typically made from pure silver or gold.

When it comes to buying antique emerald rings, it can often prove to be difficult. Also called vintage emerald rings, in this day and age they can be very hard to find, and if you do manage to find one, the price can set you back. The hardest to find is when the ring is in its original glory, unaltered in any way, however there can still be value in a refurbished antique ring, where perhaps the gemstone has been salvaged and been placed onto a brand new metal band. One sign to tell the gemstone is one from an older time is that the gemstone is nearly always round in shape, whereas nowadays the emerald is cut into many differents shapes.

Some tips to finding antique emerald rings would be to look up a few antique dealers who specialise in jewelry. They should be able to give you some sound advice on any questions you might have. Also, never discount Ebay, there is a vast amount of everything on there, and that goes for antique jewelry aswell. If you need more information about emerald rings, click here

Emerald Rings have always been popular for many many years for a number of reasons. They come in a variety of shapes such as round, oval, pear, trillion and square, and it is the traditional birthstone for people who were born in the month of May. Rings that include emeralds in the design are often very popular for use at weddings and for engagements, and are also traditionally given to a married couple on their 55th wedding anniversary.

Emeralds are a form of an element widely known as Beryl, and the green colour it gives off is from small amounts of chromium and vanadium in the rock. The majority of emerald mining that is used to make into emerald rings comes from Columbia, but it is also mined in many other locations such as Australia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Russia, Austria and Switzerland. Emeralds are a difficult gemstone to cut, as there are alot of inclusions and fissures that occur in the rock.

There are very few emeralds that are naturally flawless, so most emeralds that are mined need to be treated by being soaked in cedar oil or synthetic oil. The oil’s refractive index matches that of the stone, therefore filling the fissures and improving the appearance of the emerald. This treatment of the rock is a long established technique, but the U.S Federal Trade Commission requires that wherever an oil treated emerald is sold, it must be disclosed that it has received this treatment.

Also, not unlike other gemstones, an emerald is graded using the 4 C’s of Colour, Clarity, Cut and Crystal, and are graded without magnification unlike diamonds, that need to be graded at 10x magnification.

Emeralds are quite a fragile gemstone, as there are a number of environments that can cause the rock’s appearance to diminish. It is advisable to keep your emerald rings away from high temperatures or direct sunlight, as this can cause the oils in the emerald to dry up. Also, do not use and detergents or cleaning chemicals when cleaning emerald rings, as this can once again affect the oils in the stone. Ultrasonic cleaners that are quite commonly used to clean jewelry should also be avoided, as the fissures in the emerald make the prone to chipping or cracking.

The metals used to make emerald rings are usually gold and platinum, as these colours of metal compliment the green of the emerald very well. Titanium is also used, as it is becoming fashionable as a ring due to its strength, durability and its resistance to scratching and tarnishing.
